The future of Philadelphia is progressive, bold, and inclusive.

But we need a champion in Harrisburg.

Ben Waxman has been fighting for all of us for 20 years.

As a journalist, organizer, and community advocate, Ben has consistently led the way on the issues that matter the most to all Philadelphians.

His work – for criminal justice reform, unions, democracy and many more causes – comes from the belief that government can do good for people, and improve the lives of all of us. We just need the right representatives in Harrisburg to make that happen.

As an experienced leader and former WHYY journalist, Ben Waxman understands the state budget, the legislative process, and the need to build consensus.

His work for Senator Vincent Hughes and DA Larry Krasner shows he isn’t afraid to take on the tough fights:

  • Raising the minimum wage to help bring millions of Pennsylvanians out of poverty
  • The groundbreaking effort to end the War on Drugs that has brutalized thousands of families since Rizzo
  • The ongoing struggle to right racial and income inequality in school funding

A 15-year resident of Center City, Ben  raised money for local schools and served on the board of the Center City Residents AssociationJewish Labor Committee, and the 8th Ward Democratic Executive Committee. He and his wife Julie attend Beth Zion-Beth Israel synagogue in Center City.

Ben has been fighting for what’s right for 20 years, and has never wavered on his values or his commitment to progressive causes. He is who is says he is, and he always has been.
